- This paper discusses long-range dependence (self-similarity) in cellular system traffic. Assuming three kinds of cellular systems, we analyze the traffic intensity of these three systems by computer simulation. Our simulation results show that long-range dependence appears in some of these systems even if the original data size does not follow a heavy-tailed distribution, and furthermore, if the traffic source has a cause of long-range dependence, then the intensity of the long-range dependence is enhanced by the cellular systems. Then, we examine some methods in view point of suppressing the long-range dependence and show that the methods can efficiently suppress the long-range dependence.
