概要
Cluster-tree networks are suitable for realizing large-scale wireless ad hoc networks, because they can be built and managed hierarchically. However, the cluster-tree networks frequently suffer from bottleneck at a network coordinator. Another issue is decrease of throughput due to interference from hidden terminals. In this paper, combination of CSMA/CA and spread-spectrum multiple-access (SSMA) with multicode reception is proposed as a MAC protocol for ad hoc networks. This method also employs a hybrid spreading code method and a career sense method after de-spreading for improving SSMA performance. Throughput and packet success probability for the proposed method are analyzed via simulations assuming the IEEE 802.15.4/ZigBee. Simulation results show that the throughput is remarkably improved and the bottleneck at a network coordinator is mitigated with the proposed method.
